He was so intrigued when my fiance and I told him our love story and that really made us happy to share that part of us with him. John is easy to talk to and easy to reach! There are no words!! You absolutely cannot get any better than John!
We are a military couple that had a big wedding planned for December. But, we decided to forgo our “big white wedding” and elope 9 months sooner! We had our license, found a photographer, but we were in desperate need of an officiant. I found John on WeddingWire during a flight home to N.C. from a visit to see my fiancé in WA and before I even landed John had already called me! John took the time to meet with us over video call since I couldn’t be back in WA before our elopement date, was genuinely interested in our story, and quickly became a friend – not just an officiant we were lucky enough to find off of the internet. The night before our wedding came and the forecast for the time of our planned outdoor Beach elopement included a 90% chance of rain. Without hesitation, when I asked John I’d be had any flexibility to do sunrise at 7 am instead: he immediately responded to my text and said yes! John arrived to the service before we, our families, or our photographer could even get there! But, the most impressive thing John delivered for us was his service. My southern mama is not the easiest to impress and she RAVED about how beautiful John’s words were and how impressed she was. John was a blessing on our wedding day and we could not have dreamed of a better officiant that was, flexible, prompt, reliable, trustworthy, kind, and the definition of a professional!

05/15/2021 was our Best Day Ever! Our wedding was a dream come true and I don’t think we could’ve had a better officiant than John. It felt like an old friend was marrying us, we even had comments from our guests asking how we knew him and where we had met (all thinking he was a long time friend of ours). He had encouraging words and remarks during our ceremony and took care of the marriage certificate so that we did not have to worry about those little details. Of all of the stresses we dealt with trying to keep up with regulations and keeping our loved ones safe, the one thing that went as smooth as possible was choosing John as our officiant. We really did have the Best Day EVER with John!
10/10 stars- he was very communicative, funny, helpful and kind. We planned a fairly traditional wedding, and John did a perfect job balancing the “newer” traditions of my now husband and I (Gaming, Water polo, sports/wrestling around, and our dog), along with coaxing tears from our religious relatives with the perfect biblical references at just the perfect time. John was a blessing to our elopement! I don’t even know where to start because there are so many positive things to say. My fiancé and I selected John about 3 weeks before our wedding. It was very last minute but he made time to have a FaceTime meeting with us as we are in Texas and he was in Washington. He got to know us and our love story. On the day of our wedding at Gold Creek Pond it was raining, snowy, and cold but he stuck through it with us and made our ceremony beautiful and memorable. Where do I start? My husband Jake and I got married on Monday, November 2 and were looking for an officiant that would be flexible with our vision for an adventure type elopement. We found John and read his glowing reviews on the Knot and Wedding Wire and knew we had to reach out to see if he was available. I sent him a note and within 10 minutes received a very excited voicemail telling us he was available and so excited to get to know our story. We met over Facetime and he was incredibly engaged, kind and funny. He asked questions about our love and truly wanted to get to know us so that our ceremony was customized to fit our story. On the day of, our first time meeting in person, we were blown away. He arrived at the cabin location early and was waiting for us as we got off the mountain. He helped set up lanterns, open boxes, set up the ceremony and got all of the paperwork done as we were getting ready. He kept the mood light and we all found ourselves laughing. It was just us, John and our photographers so it was important that everyone there truly wanted to be there and it was undeniable he was thrilled to be. The ceremony was written so thoughtfully and true to Jake and I. He pulled quotes from things we told him and set up our story with words of encouragement and language that felt like it was being said by someone we knew for years. After the ceremony, John was a master confetti thrower and stayed for pizza and macaroons and talked around the table for hours. He is now truly a friend and we feel so lucky to have had him present on our day.

Thanks to the limits of Corona Virus we had a hard time finding an officiant we thought would be good for our ceremony. It was a 10 person small ceremony on the beach around 3 hours drive from our house. John not only made the trip but made sure to be there and helped set up without having to ask. Prior to the ceremony we held and interview together that made us feel very close and comfortable with him. After the ceremony he signed the paperwork and chatted with the group and was very pleasant to have around. I honestly think he made our perfect day even better and would highly recommend his services to anyone!

John made our elopement go seamlessly. We had to switch states of our ceremony due to the wildfires only 6 days before our wedding date. I connected with him just a few days before. While doing so, he quickly responded with kindness and willingness to work with us on our location and timeline. I had a phone conversation with him and we got to know each other and he made me feel so comfortable with no worries at all. He led our ceremony as if he was our friend we had known for years with thoughtful kindness, humor and love. We consider him a friend and a special part of our family for life!

BEST DAY EVER IS RIGHT! John was ABSOLUTELY the best officiant I could have ever wanted. He took the time to get to know us personally prior to the wedding – face timing and learning our story to make our ceremony more personalized. He then used the stories he learned about our relationship to prepare our vows and his speech – making the entire thing so much more sincere and special. He was flexible and communicative – and it was very obvious that he was invested in our story and wanted everything to be perfect. He was not like one of these officiants that just show up and wing it on the day of the wedding. John took the time to talk to the guests as well, prior to the beginning of the ceremony, encouraging them to try to keep their phones out of view as to not get in the way of the professional photographer. In addition to these things, he went the extra mile to ask if there was anything he could help out with while he was waiting for the ceremony to start. He was very well dressed, handsome, and polite. Many of the guests complimented me on my choice, telling me he was a class act and very professional. I would choose him over and over again – but let’s hope I only need him once! 🙂 After the ceremony was over, my photographer wanted us to rush and take special photos while we had the sunset lighting- thus delaying the marriage license signing… John was very patient and waited while we got caught up and distracted. We didn’t end up signing the marriage license until hours later and he was so sweet about it – never once making us feel rushed or pressured. What’s more – after we signed he presented us both with the most adorable set or fancy pens and monogrammed key chains with our name and wedding date on them. He truly did make it THE BEST DAY EVER!!
OUR MOUNT RAINIER BEST DAY EVER!
John was an incredible addition and the perfect fit to our magical day! With all the hurdles that come along with getting married during Covid, we had to cancel our elopement in Hawaii and scramble for a plan B. Lucky for us- we found John, were able to get in touch and virtually meet just 4 weeks before the wedding! I cannot give this guy enough praise for making us feel so celebrated and comfortable amidst the insanity it takes to throw together a wedding in such a short amount of time. But he 100% did it. He took our love story and incorporated it perfectly into our ceremony. He heard my requests to make my divorced parents both feel comfortable – by offering solutions and going above and beyond to make my dad and step dad both feel like true fathers of the bride. He showed up early and saved the day by being the ONLY ONE onsite who knew how to tie a bow tie (big thanks from our groomsmen and ring bearers John!) And he hung out and made our tiny guest list really feel like it was a celebration afterwards with laughter and stories. It’s not easy to scramble and find someone online to orchestrate such a special commitment to one another. But with John, it honestly just felt so right and so perfect. My husband and I both have looked at each other since the wedding in awe of how completely not nervous we felt during the ceremony. And I think we owe a lot of that to John. Best Day Ever! So long story short, we had been planning our wedding for a full year. We kept in touch with john through email and texting to make sure we were all on the same page. He is very easy going, flexible, and professional. Everything else with the wedding that could go wrong did. Due to the corona virus outbreak, the venue cancelled on us, the honeymoon resort cancelled on us and the governor putting us on stay at home orders really the final straw. Literally last week we started seeing articles on VIRTUAL WEDDINGS. We asked John if he could so this and he said yes. All in all the wedding moved to our back yard with just me, my husband and John. Everyone else was on video chat through Facebook. We decorated a table outside, and inside for cake and flowers. Other then a delay on getting everyone online, it turned out great. He was very patient with us trying to get everyone online to watch the wedding. He was very good about keeping his distance and using sanitizer to keep us all safe. John is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

When I was planning my wedding, just like many people, I wanted mine to be perfect (or at least as close to perfect as possible). I spent so much time researching, calling, price negotiating, and so on. The entire process was very stressful, confusing, and expensive. That is, except my experience with John Candler. When I was looking for an officiant, I looked online and read many reviews. I looked at their faces, and tried my best to imagine their personalities. I know this sounds bad, but I simply didn’t have the time, energy, or desire to meet multiple pastors, priests, nuns or whoever to find the perfect officiant. When I saw the reviews for John, the people described a person that was warm, professional, and simply great at what he does. So I sent him a message, hoping that he was available for our special day. He quickly replied, within minutes, and let us know he was available. He directed us to his website for more information, photos, reviews, and rates. His website was professional and inviting, so I booked him. Months went by, and we occasionally spoke. He asked me to answer some questions on an email, and then he followed up with a phone call. As we approached our wedding day, I realized that I hadn’t met John in person yet, and the outdated version of me got worried. I asked myself silly questions like, “Will he be here? Will he be on time? Will he know what we want? Will he be good?” Not only did John show up on time, he completed the picture as soon as he arrived. He arrived with his iPad in hand, and as we waited to walk down the aisle, he stood with me, prayed with me, encouraged me, and assured me that my wedding was going to be awesome! Within minutes, I felt that I had a new friend in John, someone who I could trust entirely. It was pure magic, and John was the conductor. I couldn’t be more thankful for his willingness and commitment. I will never get married again, but if I had to, John would be my number one choice.

I had the pleasure of becoming friends with John back in 2012 when I moved across the street from him in Los Angeles. Whether it was at a church event or our weekly team trivia night, John had the ability to make you feel like you were the most important person in the room. His positivity, energetic spirit, sense of humor, and love for people is infectious, and he is the type of person that you just want to be around to have a great time and feel uplifted. I ended up moving out of the area and eventually across the country — but when I got engaged in December of 2017, John was the one and only person I wanted to officiate our ceremony. We also happened to cross paths living in Phoenix during the months leading up to our wedding, and John was always available to hang out with us and get to know my husband and us together as a couple, even with an extremely busy training schedule. Our ceremony on July 21, 2018 was absolutely perfect and more than we could have ever dreamed of. While the rest of the day was such a blur, I felt completely grounded, present, and connected to my husband during the ceremony. John is a natural public speaker, and he is also a natural at making each person in a crowd feel connected to the moment. I can’t tell you how many people approached me during and after the wedding to say that it was the most beautiful ceremony they have ever witnessed and how they could really tell just how much John cared for us and how he flawlessly captured the story of our love for one another. For that reason (and countless others), choosing John as our wedding officiant was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. After our April wedding, my husband and I had so many family and friends (including some of our vendors on-site!) tell us our ceremony was one of the most beautifully done ceremonies they’d ever witnessed. John delivered a powerful message about marriage that was tailored perfectly for my husband and me, as John had met with us many times before the wedding. During these meetings, we were able to walk John through what kind of service we wanted (length, tone), what kind of vows would be meaningful to us, etc. I also appreciate that John asked us to describe how we met and tell him stories about the milestones in our relationship (some of which were hinted at in his ceremony address and caused lighthearted chuckles throughout the audience). Prior to the wedding, John prepared us for what to expect day-of and also provided premarital counseling by recommending books, asking open ended questions, and recommending little things we could do to stay in tune with each other throughout the journey of married life. When my wife and I were planning our wedding, there was only one person I could think of to marry us, John Candler. A childhood friend that I was blessed to keep in my life over the years, John is one of the most charismatic people I have ever met. We were in Seattle and John was down in California, but he still made the time to do premarital counseling sessions with us over Skype. He knew me pretty well, but he wanted to get a feel for our dynamic as a couple. It was truly personal and helpful for us, as a couple, to grow stronger together.
